I'm Daniel, and I recently graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago—cum laude, with college honors, and high distinction, I might add!—with a degree in Anthropology. I also minored in French. Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my Web site to learn more about the guy behind the application.
I won't recap my personal statement or personal history here. Rather, I want to give you some additional information that you may find helpful in making your decision about whether to admit me to your program.
I'm 32 years-old (already?), and I've lived in Chicago, Illinois with my parter Kyle for the last ten years. Kyle work for a major domestic airline, as well as serving as the Domicile Executive Board Member for Chicago for his labor union. Together, we have two cats who more or less run our lives: Simon, 19 (!), and Gryffin, who is something of a—shall we say?—gourmand.
One of our shared goals is to add to our family by adopting a child who has, for whatever reason, been stuck in the system. Kyle and I both grew up in homes where our parents were there for us and made sure that we had what we needed to be happy, healthy, and well-rounded children, and we want to provide that same opportunity to a child who would otherwise grow up without a family.
Much of my time these days is spent working as much as possible in order to pay the bills (and eat—eating is good!) until I begin a program of graduate study. In my free time, I enjoy photography, reading (especially anything related to Upper Palaeolithic art or anything that could potentially be useful in the future), and traveling when possible, while Saturdays from April to July are reserved for the Doctor.
